SquaredUp DS: Dashboard advantages – Part 1

When working with SCOM, creating Views and Alert Views can be limited due to the inability to use OR conditions in filters. This limitation restricts the flexibility in defining criteria for displaying specific types of alerts or information on screens presented to teams or managers.

Background:

When working with SCOM, we will have to present to the teams or managers screens that contain descriptions of several types, the solution is to create Views that contain several conditions, today in the SCOM Console the existing option is to create a Alert View according to a very limited criterion, since it knows how to provide a solution to a situation requiring a very specific type of alerts, without flexibility in definition.

Console Alert view:

In the SCOM Console, when we come to create a notification screen in the Filter, we will have to put an exact condition without being able to enter Or, but only an exact definition on the Name or Description and so on.

For the sake of the example, if we have to display an alert screen that contains the name of the Alerts as well as Heartbeat and an alert whose name says Failed, we will not be able to do this because we can only choose one value.

As you can see in the following screen, there is a filter in an exact query without the possibility of inserting an OR

SquaredUp Alert View:

In SquaredUp, in a very simple way, we can select an alert view creation and enter an SQL query containing several OR or AND and receive on one screen all the Alers that meet the criteria.

As you can see the result of the query can be seen already while writing the query without any need to save and return to editing mode.
